Plan Melbourne – Melbourne Metropolitan Planning Strategy

Plan Melbourne – the Victorian Government’s Melbourne Metropolitan Planning Strategy was released for comment on 9 October 2013.

Plan Melbourne:

  • sets out the government’s vision for the city to 2050.
  • is a strategy to house, employ and move more people around the metropolitan area, and beyond.
  • addresses Melbourne’s infrastructure, housing, employment and environmental challenges with an integrated approach to planning and development that includes land use, transport, and social and community infrastructure.
  • seeks to respond to the pressures of population growth, driving economic prosperity and liveability while protecting the environment and heritage.

Plan Melbourne builds on an extensive consultation process following the release in October 2012 of the discussion paper, Melbourne, let's talk about the future.

How can I get involved?

Comment directly to the Victorian Government - To find out more, or make comments on the strategy, visit the Plan Melbourne website. Opportunities to comment on the strategy will close on Friday 6 December 2013.

A series of community information sessions will be held in key metropolitan locations, in October and November 2013.

How will Council get involved?

Council will make a submission on the draft Strategy on behalf of the Manningham City Council. Council officers will present the submission to Council at an upcoming Council Meeting. Please check back on Council's website for updates on the progress of the submission.
