Safer travel and better access delivered on Jumping Creek Road
Share Safer travel and better access delivered on Jumping Creek Road on Facebook Share Safer travel and better access delivered on Jumping Creek Road on X (formerly Twitter) Share Safer travel and better access delivered on Jumping Creek Road on Linkedin Email Safer travel and better access delivered on Jumping Creek Road linkUpgraded footpaths, safer road conditions, and strong environmental protections are just some of the major improvements we have have delivered for the community as part of the Jumping Creek Road upgrade.
Manningham Mayor, Cr Jim Grivas, said the upgrade of the vital transport corridor would achieve safe, sustainable and functional infrastructure while protecting the surrounding environment.
“This project isn’t just about upgrading a road – it’s about protecting and enhancing the natural environment that surrounds Jumping Creek Road and makes the area so special,” Cr Grivas said.“From wildlife crossings to indigenous planting, we’re delivering improvements that support our community while protecting our local ecosystem for years to come.
“We’re also improving access for pedestrians and cyclists, with 4 kilometres of footpaths upgraded between the Warrandyte roundabout and Homestead Road.
“In addition, more than 800 drainage systems have been installed. These upgrades will significantly improve stormwater management and enhance safety for motorists and all road users,” Cr Grivas said.
Environmental protection measures are a key feature of the upgrade, which to date have seen:
- 6 wildlife crossings to support safe animal movement
- around 20 virtual fencing systems to help reduce wildlife-vehicle collisions
- 300 indigenous trees planted around the state park to enhance biodiversity and revegetation.
Construction continues across the remaining sections, with a focus on minimising disruption for residents while delivering long-term benefits for all road users.

We thank everyone who came to our two community sessions in March 2025. Your questions and feedback have helped us understand how we can support the community through the upcoming works.
Some key themes highlighted at the sessions included:
- Concerns about traffic management: We’re working closely with our contractor to ensure we can minimise traffic impacts as much as possible.
- Concerns about speeding vehicles: We’re communicating with other relevant authorities about whether additional control measures can be implemented.
- Questions about works at Dudley Road and Jumping Creek Road intersection: we’re in the process of seeking Department of Transport and Planning approval to install a signalised intersection in this location. We will update you once we know more.
- Requests to ensure pedestrian movement and the school crossing at Jumping Creek Road, Dudley Road and Yarra Road remain available and safe during construction.
When will the works begin? The first stage of works will begin after Easter and includes the construction of the Yarra Road footpath, along with early site investigations on Jumping Creek Road and Dudley Road. We anticipate some temporary disruptions to the community during these works.
In preparation for the main construction works, we’re working closely with our contractors to finalise a construction methodology that minimises any impacts on residents.
