We’re planning for the future of community facilities in Warrandyte. We aim to identify improvements to local infrastructure that will support the increasing demand for community services.

Given the wide geographic spread of our community buildings and services in Warrandyte, we’re exploring various options to enhance infrastructure and service connectivity. This includes potential partnerships and facility-sharing opportunities.

The original timeframe of broad community consultation in early 2025 has been updated (see the lifecycle, right).

Over the past 18 months, Council consulted with more than 30 stakeholders including community groups and facility users.

This process included detailed needs analysis and building condition assessments to better understand community needs and ensure future works results in fit-for-purpose facilities.

This has taken longer than initially anticipated, resulting in the updated timeframe.

This is a key project under the Community Infrastructure Plan.

Work is continuing on the Warrandyte Community Facilities Review following community consultation and extensive needs analysis last year with more than 30 services and exploration of options.

The report considers a wide range of sites and services in Warrandyte, Warrandyte South and surrounds, and will identify future opportunities for consideration.

Due to the complex nature of this report, work is taking longer than anticipated, but once the draft is finalised we look forward to sharing more information with the community in the coming months.

Needs analysis complete, options analysis underway

We have completed stage one of the Warrandyte Community Facilities Review, which involved consulting with over 30 services to compile a needs and demand analysis.

This consultation highlighted the importance of community infrastructure in sustaining social connections, health and wellbeing in Warrandyte.

While services highlighted key issues such as limited car parking and accessibility challenges, we found that many of Warrandyte’s community facilities have the capacity for increased use. Additionally, community groups are enthusiastic about collaborating and working together.

We are now entering stage two, which will be informed by the needs and demand analysis and will explore options for future community facility provision.

We’ll provide an update to the community on the project by mid 2025.

We have consulted with more than 30 services, including community services, sporting clubs, and community groups and associations, that use Warrandyte's community infrastructure.

We discussed the existing buildings, services and service requirements, as well as aspirations to support future community needs.

We will now take some time to compile our findings and develop a needs analysis to complete phase one of the project.

We want to take this opportunity to thank the staff and volunteers who provided their time. You've helped us better understand the fantastic work you do for the community of Warrandyte and its surrounding areas.

We'll provide another update this year or early next year to inform you of the findings to date.

This month, we’re engaging local community groups to help plan the future direction of community facilities in Warrandyte.

Our Mayor, Councillor Carli Lange said we’re looking for future improvements to community facilities that will better support local services and connectivity for residents.

“Last year’s consultation on the Community Infrastructure Plan highlighted the need for a holistic review of the provision of community facilities in Warrandyte. With an increasing demand for services, we need to ensure the right infrastructure is in place to support community needs,” Cr Lange said.

“The Review will help guide future investment into community facilities in Warrandyte,” she said.

During the consultation, community groups will provide information on their usage, needs, and expectations of facilities. They will also share ideas for future services and buildings, including opportunities for partnerships and facility sharing.

“We want to better understand the needs, priorities and aspirations of our local community groups.

“These discussions will guide the preparation of our draft recommendations, which will be shared with the broader community for further feedback early next year,” the Mayor added.

We’ll contact community groups and services directly to participate in the consultation.

If you haven’t heard from us by the end of July and would like to participate, please contact us by calling 9840 9333 or emailing manningham@manningham.vic.gov.au.

We plan to present the final plan to Council for endorsement in 2025.
