Why did Council undertake the Warrandyte Community Facilities Review

The Review was identified as a priority in the Community Infrastructure Plan to assess current facilities and identify opportunities to better meet the community’s future needs.

    What feedback did Council receive?

We received 38 submissions about the review along with a petition of 1611 signatures regarding the Warrandyte Scout Hall.

Is Council proceeding with the review?

No, we will not proceed with the draft review report as a single, overarching plan. As a result of community feedback and discussions with community groups and facility users, we’ve identified a range of priority focus areas that will be progressed individually in consultation with key stakeholders.

What are the new priority focus areas?

Four priority focus areas have been identified:

Warrandyte Scouts: forming a working group to re-examine options to remain in their current hall, and address short and long-term needs.

Warrandyte Men’s Shed: Exploring options for a dedicated space at Warrandyte Reserve, possibly at the Warrandyte Community Hall or Tennis Club.

Early Years Services: Working with the kindergarten, childcare, the State Government and local schools to explore all short and long-term options for expanding early years services in Warrandyte.

Warrandyte Historical Society Museum: retaining and upgrading their current building.

What does this mean for Warrandyte Scouts?

We’ll be establishing a working group with Warrandyte Scouts and Scouts Victoria to explore the options to upgrade their existing facility, and investigate how to meet both short and long-term needs.

What does this mean for Warrandyte Men’s Shed?

We’ll work with the Men’s shed to identify a suitable long-term solution which includes reviewing options for a space at Warrandyte Reserve in the Warrandyte Community Hall or Tennis Club, in consulation with key stakeholders and relevant planning authorities.

What is happening with Early Years Services

We’ll work with the kindergarten, childcare, the State Government and local schools to investigate options for improved early years services in Warrandyte.

    Will the Museum be moving?

No. We’ll work with the Warrandyte Historical Society on upgrading their current facility, within the current site constraints.

What is happening to other Warrandyte facilities?

We’ll continue to improve other community facilities across Warrandyte, including sporting facilities such as Warrandyte Reserve and Coleman Park. We’ll be taking a staged approach, working closely with user groups and the community, guided by existing Council plans, policies and available funding.
