Following completion of the new Hepburn Reserve, we have found that some parts of the road construction were not completed in accordance with the approved design. As a result, we have requested the contractor to rectify the work. Ace Construction will return to undertake these works in two parts to minimise disruption to local residents.

Minor adjustments to the kerb alignment on the south side of Hepburn Road will happen later this month. The road will remain open with traffic management in place.

During the week commencing 2 December 2024, work will take place at the intersection of Short Street and Hepburn Road. Unfortunately, this will require the road to be closed for one day. We have included a map of the road closure and detours that will be in place at this time.

If you have any questions about these works, please contact us on 9840 9333.

We're pleased to share that the construction of the new park on Hepburn Road is progressing and on track for completion in mid-2024.

The reconstruction of the road and footpath on Hepburn Road, between Gifford and Walker Streets is also underway. However, we have encountered some minor delays with the road works due to inconsistencies with road levels and the discovery of a sink hole.

As a result, the intersection of Hepburn Road and Short Street will need to remain closed until late July 2024.

We're addressing these issues and working with our contractors to minimise disruptions and complete the project as quickly as possible.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your ongoing patience as we complete these works.

Please see the below map of the road closure and required detours.

The new park on Hepburn Road is on track for completion in mid-2024. It’s time to give this new space an official name!

    We’re proposing…Hepburn Reserve.

This name is relevant, clear and consistent with the names of Manningham’s other local reserves. It aligns with our Naming of Reserves Policy, which states local reserves should be named after the longest road they adjoin. It also aligns with the Geographic Place Names Act 1998 and Official Naming Rules for Places in Victoria 2022.

    Have your say

We’re building a new park on Hepburn Road in Doncaster, between Walker Street and Gifford Street. While we've made considerable progress on this project, we've also had some unexpected delays.

Construction for this park will now begin in September 2023 with the park open to the public in May 2024.

    What has caused the delay?

The project has experienced delays due to the ongoing impact of overwhelming demand in the construction industry and labour shortages, as well as the complex nature of the site. The topography of the site includes a steep slope which needs to be accommodated in the design of the park. We are keen to ensure that the park merges smoothly with the surrounding footpaths and road and to ensure the park drains stormwater effectively. As a part of our design, we're also committed to protecting existing mature trees.

What is the next step in the project?

We are now finalising the process to complete the detailed design of the park.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through these issues.

We're committed to delivering a high-quality park that meets the needs of the community now and into the future.
