We’re building a new park for Doncaster Hill. This project is part of the Doncaster Hill Strategy (2002, revised 2004) and Manningham Open Space Strategy.
It will include:
outdoor seating
a BBQ area
drinking fountain
public art
large open lawn areas
a playspace
nature play
canopy tree planting
bike hoops; and more.
Where is it?
The new park will be located on Hepburn Road, between Walker Street and Gifford Road in Doncaster.
Why is it needed?
The Doncaster Hill Strategy (2002, revised 2004) identified the need for a new park to buffer high-density residential zones and provide much-needed open space to residents.
The park offers recreational options, including play and relaxation, while also fostering a sense of community through new public facilities, greenery, and public art, giving these areas a vibrant urban character and a unique identity.
When will the works happen?
We expect works to commence in December 2023, taking around seven months. The park will open in around mid-2024.
How will the works affect me?
Once we commence works, there may be some noise and traffic changes required to allow for construction. We’ll do our best to minimise any impacts on residents and visitors.

The new park on Hepburn Road will be built soon. Early works will begin in December 2023, and the major construction works will start in January 2024. We anticipate that the park will open in mid-2024.
Construction will generally occur between 7.00am and 5.00pm on weekdays. There might be some noise and temporary changes to traffic during this time. We will write to residents with more information regarding any road impacts ahead of time and detours will be clearly signed.
We thank you for your patience while we build the new park!

We're pleased to announce that we’re out to public tender for the works to build the new park on Hepburn Road.
Following the tender process, we plan to commence works in November and open the park in mid-2024.
We're also excited to release the final 3D images and video fly-through of the new space. You can now see how the park will look! Check out the video and pictures below.

We’re building a new park on Hepburn Road in Doncaster, between Walker Street and Gifford Street. While we've made considerable progress on this project, we've also had some unexpected delays.
Construction for this park will now begin in September 2023 with the park open to the public in May 2024.
What has caused the delay?
The project has experienced delays due to the ongoing impact of overwhelming demand in the construction industry and labour shortages, as well as the complex nature of the site. The topography of the site includes a steep slope which needs to be accommodated in the design of the park. We are keen to ensure that the park merges smoothly with the surrounding footpaths and road and to ensure the park drains stormwater effectively. As a part of our design, we're also committed to protecting existing mature trees.
What is the next step in the project?
We are now finalising the process to complete the detailed design of the park.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through these issues.
We're committed to delivering a high-quality park that meets the needs of the community now and into the future.

We are about to start demolition of the houses of 9, 11, 13 and 15 on Hepburn Road to enable the construction of a new park. Please note, there may be some noise disruption, however we endeavour to minimise the impacts.
The safety of our community is our top priority during this time and Manningham will continue to follow the advice from the Department of Health and Human Services about coronavirus (COVID-19).
