Consultation has concluded

Over the past five years, Manningham Council has been making improvements to the streetscape in the western section of Tunstall Square in Doncaster East.

During January 2020 works on the final stage of the streetscape upgrade will get underway.

The final stage of this streetscape upgrade will include:

  • Creating an expanded central plaza space
  • New seating areas
  • New feature trees and landscaping
  • New feature lighting
  • Creating a new pedestrian crossing
  • Installing additional bike racks
  • Improving the left hand exit lane onto Doncaster Road

These works also aim to improve drainage in the car park area, remove tripping hazards, provide a wide footpath area and larger tree squares for the existing Chinese Elms at Tunstall Square.

    Works are progressing on the sreetscape upgrade at Tunstall Square.

    The final asphalt layer for the footpath area has been completed at the front of the shops. Demolition and footpath preparation, construction of kerb and channel, installation of drainage pipes and pits, central plaza bluestone pavers and exposed aggregate is continuing.

    Works will continue until 9 April before breaking for Easter and re-commencing on 15 April.

    We understand everyone in our community is responding to the evolving coronavirus (COVID-19) situation.

    At this stage, we do not foresee there are any impacts to the delivery of this upgrade project.

    The safety of our community is our top priority during this time.

    In Manningham, we are following advice from the Department of Health and Human Services and encourage everyone to practise good hygiene and social distancing in our community.

    Night works will start this Sunday 19 January at Tunstall Square as part of the implementation of the final Tunstall Square streetscape upgrade.

    Works will also be completed during the day and over the next week will include:

    - demolition and footpath preparation

    - installation of bluestone band footings

    - installation of bluestone band to completed footings

    - installation of associated grated trench units

    These works are expected to be completed by Friday 24 January.

    Works will begin on the final stage of streetscape improvements in the west of Tunstall Square on Monday 6 January 2020.

    Manningham Council's contractors will complete the streetscape works over two phases.

    The first phase will begin on 6 January and is anticipated to be completed by the end of March 2020.
