Larnoo Playground is a favourite playspace for children with interesting play opportunities in a bushland setting in Doncaster East.

Contributions to this consultation are closed for evaluation and review. We will report back on key outcomes by the end of February 2025.

What is happening?

We know families in our local community love Larnoo Playground and we're seeking your input to help us plan for the upgrade.

We have created a concept plan and would like your feedback. The proposed upgrade will include new play equipment, new park furniture, new shade sail, and new tree and garden bed planting.

This project is part of our Parks Improvement Program and will be delivered under our 2024/25 open space capital works program.

Where is it?

Larnoo Playground is located next to Gumnut Gully Pre-School on the Mullum Mullum Creek Linear Park.

Larnoo Playground, 60 Larnoo Dr, Doncaster East

When is it happening?

Community consultation will be open from 29 November to 20 December 2024.

We anticipate the final design will be ready by May 2025, with construction to commence in August 2025. This schedule is subject to weather and contractor availability.

How will the works affect me?

The playground will be closed during construction. The nearest alternative playground is Schafter Reserve, 700 metres away at Schafter Drive Doncaster East and Lyndal Reserve, 750 metres away at Lyndal Close Doncaster East.

We will make every effort to minimise any disruption to residents and visitors.

Thank you for your feedback on the Larnoo Playground upgrade

We’d like to thank everyone who provided feedback on the proposed upgrade to Larnoo Reserve Playground in Doncaster East.

Your input has been invaluable in helping us shape the final design, ensuring the space continues to meet the needs of our local community.

    What we heard from you

We’re pleased to share that the draft concept plan received an average rating of 4.1 out of 5, with more than 82% of respondents rating it four or higher.

Key strengths of the proposed upgrade included:

    • a large triple swing
    • picnic table and bin
    • shade sail structure
    • new play equipment and nature play elements.

    Suggestions for improvement included:

    • more seating
    • retaining the crocodile sculpture
    • increased shade over the picnic area and multi-play tower.

    Additional ideas

We also received suggestions to include features such as a BBQ area, water play equipment, a larger shade structure, fitness equipment, a flying fox, public toilet, and water fountain.

While these items are outside the scope of the current budget, they’ll be considered as part of future planning for the reserve.

    What’s next?

The final design plan, including the confirmed play equipment, is currently in development and will be available in August 2025.

Playground construction is scheduled to being October/November 2025, subject to contractor availability.
