We’re gearing up to improve bike riding facilities across Manningham over the next 10 years and have developed a draft Recreational Bike Facilities Plan to guide this work.

The draft plan outlines eight proposed locations for new or improved recreational cycling facilities that cater to all ages and skill levels.

Our vision is to build a network of recreational cycling facilities across Manningham that include Pump Tracks, Flow Trails and Bike Playgrounds.

We want everyone to be able to have fun, socialise and build confidence and riding skills in these spaces.

Proposed locations:

1. Fitzsimons Reserve

5. St Clems Reserve

2. Jenkins Park

6. Stintons Reserve

3. Katrina Gully

7. Wonga Park Reserve

4. Morris Williams Reserve

8. Zerbes Reserve

Have your say

Your feedback will help shape the final Recreational Bike Facilities plan, which will be available later this year. Following the Council endorsement of the final plan, we will start to implement the Recreational Bike Facilities Program and start to build the facilities across Manningham. Works will be subject to further community consultation at each site and the annual Council budget process.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the survey, we are now reviewing the feedback and will update you with the results and the final plan shaped by your feedback later this year.

Thank you to everyone who shared their thoughts on the draft Bike Facilities Plan.

We received 704 survey responses from a wide range of community members - including park users, local sporting clubs and residents.

During the consultation, we engaged directly with school students near the proposed facility locations, as well as members of Manningham’s Youth Advisory, Recreation and Sport Advisory and Liveable Places and Spaces Advisory Committees.

Of those who responded to the survey, 31% were aged 25 and under and 81% said they ride a bike.

    What you told us

There was strong support for developing new and improved riding facilities across Manningham’s open space network.

    • 90% of respondents supported the overall direction of the draft Bike Facilities Plan
    • 62% of participants in the targeted consultation said the proposed facility would encourage them to ride more.

You shared some clear priorities for what matters most when it comes to developing riding facilities in our community, including:

    • professionally built, inclusive tracks for all skill levels – from beginners to more experienced riders
    • ongoing maintenance is important to make sure facilities stay safe and usable over time
    • supporting infrastructure like seating, water, toilets and nearby play areas
    • preserving natural landscape and wildlife corridors alongside new facilities
    • connection between facilities and schools, trails and activity centres to make riding more accessible.

    Next steps

We’re now working on the final version of the Bike Facilities Plan, which will be available in September.

We’ll be seeking Council endorsement in October, with delivery of the plan set to begin late-2025.

All proposed locations will have their own consultation process to ensure each facility is tailored to meet the specific needs of the local community.
