We’re upgrading the dog activity park at Aranga Reserve in Donvale.

Proposed improvements include:

  • a new separate double-gated quiet dog area
  • a second entrance to the main dog area, closer to Aranga Crescent
  • a new agility circuit in the main dog area
  • a covered seating area near the Eastway Avenue entrance
  • path lighting between Aranga Crescent to Eastway Avenue
  • additional tree planting, and
  • path improvements.

Where is it?

The Aranga Reserve dog park is located at 1 Eastway Avenue in Donvale, next to Heatherwood School. The park is accessible from Eastway Avenue or Aranga Court. The eastern end of the reserve faces Springvale Road.

Why is it needed?

We’re upgrading this dog park due to its age and condition. Our goal is to make sure the dog park meets the needs of the community both now and for years to come.

The dog activity park currently includes:

  • a general dog activity park
  • a separate dog training area, and
  • static dog agility equipment.

Community feedback has highlighted several needs, including:

  • dedicated separate access into the quiet dog area to support less social dogs
  • seating and shade in the main dog area to improve comfort
  • upgraded agility equipment to better accommodate increased use
  • lighting along the path between Aranga Crescent and Eastway Avenue to improve connectivity and safety.

When is it happening?

Construction is likely to begin in early 2026 and will take around two months to complete.

This schedule is subject to contractor availability, materials and weather conditions.

How will it affect me?

Upgrades will be staged and sections of the dog activity park will be temporarily closed during construction. We’ll do our best to inform park users of these changes and minimise any impact on residents and visitors.

Have your say

Consultation on our concept plan is now closed.

The final design, incorporating community feedback, will be available in October.

    Suggestions for improvement

    • Access to a rubbish bin within the fenced dog park
    • Ensure fencing reaches to ground (to prevent small dogs from escaping)
    • Non-slip surface on the proposed tunnel
    • Dedicated area for puppies and small dogs near the FOMDAC clubhouse
    • Retain the existing fenced quiet dog area as a training area for dogs

    Additional ideas

We received suggestions to include features such as shade over the drink fountain with shade and gravel circuit path in the main dog area.

While these items are outside the scope of the current budget, they’ll be considered as part of future planning for the dog park.
