Second-Round Consultation Update – Wombat Bend Playground Upgrade – June 2025

Thank you to everyone who took the time to share thoughts on the proposed concept plan for the Wombat Bend Playground Upgrade.

Your feedback and ideas will help inform the final designs for this playground

Summary of key findings

• The community supports the playground upgrades, appreciating the variety, inclusiveness, and natural setting.
• Popular features include the sand play area, climbing frame, water play zone, trampoline, sensory panels, and retention of the maze and existing favourites like the bat carousel.
• Requests for improvements focus on enhanced water and sand play, diverse equipment for all ages (especially toddlers), more shade, seating, and BBQs.
• Safety and comfort enhancements such as fencing, shade sails, and mosquito control were highlighted.
• Additional amenities suggested including pump track.
• To encourage more use, the community wants better shade, natural elements retained, varied play options.
• Concerns were raised about potential increased traffic and parking demand.

Next steps

• We will incorporate as many of the suggestions as possible into the final playground design.
• We anticipate the final design will be ready later in 2025, with construction to commence in April 2026. This schedule is subject to weather and contractor availability.
