An upgraded and expanded playground is on its way. The existing playground will be closed for construction from mid-March to mid 2024.

Improvements to the playground will include -

  • New giant basket swing
  • New lookout tower and rope play
  • Upgrades and improvements to existing play towers
  • New inclusive spinner
  • New swing sets
  • Expanded sand and water play
  • Nature play areas
  • As well as improved pathways around the playspace, more seating in convenient locations and new trees and plants.

The refurbished playground is sure to delight visitors with its unique range of customised towers and slides, new sand play features, additional water play area and its exciting range of swing options.

Where to play while Victoria Street Playground is closed -

  • The Boulevard Playspace, Ruffey Lake Park
  • The Church Road North Playspace, Ruffey Lake Park
  • The Ninja Warrior Course at the northern end of The Boulevarde off King Street in Ruffey Lake Park. Suitable for older kids.
  • Wombat Bend Playspace, Finns Reserve, Lower Templestowe
  • wongium willam playspace, Warrandyte River Reserve

What to expect during construction -

  • The toilets, picnic shelters and flying fox will remain open.
  • A portion of the lower carpark near the toilets will be used as a construction compound.
  • Construction will generally occur between 7.00am and 5.00pm on weekdays.

At times traffic or pedestrians may be redirected to allow access to the construction site. Any detours will be clearly signed.
