Montgomery Reserve has had a facelift

Montgomery Reserve has been revitalised to ensure that this open space caters to a diverse range of park users and meets the needs of the local community into the future.

The upgrade was funded through Manningham’s capital works program and Commonwealth of Australia Government also contributed grant funding to the project through the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program. Manningham was also successful in securing grant funding towards the project from the Local Parks Program: Park Revitalisation Grant from the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning.

After receiving feedback on the landscape concept from the community in March 2021 the park has been upgraded to include:

  • New play elements (spinner, climber equipment and a bird’s nest swing)
  • Rocks and logs for nature play
  • Plaza area with a range of seating options
  • Sandstone retaining walls and boulders for climbing and sitting
  • Banquet picnic table and picnic shelter
  • New tree and shrub planting including a sensory garden along the southern boundary.

The park upgrade was completed in late 2021 with the official park opening on 27 March 2022.

We are proposing an upgrade to Montgomery Reserve in 2021. We want your feedback to ensure that this space will meet the needs of the local community.

Its location is in a growing activity centre behind Doncaster East Village with a mix of retail, local businesses residences and a pre-school.

To ensure the reserve caters to a diverse range of park users, we plan to create a space that works for everyone.

The revitalised space is proposed to include:

    • play elements such as a spinner, climber equipment and a bird’s nest swing
    • rocks and logs for nature play
    • a plaza area with a range of seating options
    • areas of sandstone retaining walls and boulders for climbing and sitting
    • picnic tables and landscaping including additional tree planting
    • improved access into and around the park.

In addition to these upgrades we have applied for a Local Parks Program: Park Revitalisation Grant from the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning to provide additional features.

If successful we can also provide:

    • a picnic shelter with concrete paving
    • a sensory garden along the pre-school boundary.

The design will be finalised following this community consultation with construction to commence in mid to late 2021.
