Health and Wellbeing Strategy 2021-2025
Consultation has concluded
The draft Health and Wellbeing Strategy 2021-2025 expands on the Council Plan 2021-2025, by focusing on improving the health outcomes of the community.
Here are the changes we want to see by 2025:
A healthy, safe and resilient community
Being healthy, safe and resilient gives people their best chance to live good lives. Manningham is known for being one of the healthiest cities in Victoria. Despite this, there are still areas for improvement, including:
- Improved social and emotional wellbeing
- Increased healthy eating
- Increased active lifestyle
- Increase adaptation to the health impacts from climate change
- Reduced injury and harm
- Prevention of all forms of family violence
A connected and inclusive community
To create a connected and inclusive community, it is important that people feel welcomed, valued and that they belong. To thrive, a connected and inclusive community requires the participation, equal opportunity and empowerment of all communities regardless of their age, gender, ability, cultural background or religion, so the strategy will focus on:
- Increased connection to and engagement in community life
How we've developed the plan
Over 2,500 people from all over Manningham have contributed to developing plans and strategies across the Council for 2021-2025, including the Health and Wellbeing Strategy, via a community survey, targeted conversations, deliberative community panel sessions and Councillor and staff workshops.
For the first time, 44 locals across various demographics, came together as a community panel to discuss what the future of Manningham should look like. The panel then shared their ideas and recommendations on achieving better health outcomes for Manningham across whole range of areas, both in the next four years and in the long term.
