Final design for Fitzsimons Reserve
Following community feedback, we’ve finalised the mountain bike flow trails and masterplan for Fitzsimons Reserve.
The updated plans focus on improving your riding experience, with features including a new skills pad where riders can practise before heading onto the flow trails.
We’ve also refined the mountain bike trail layout by combining the intermediate and advanced trails into one wider trail, with optional features for more confident riders.
The final design includes:
- mountain bike flow trails for all abilities
- new skills pad for riders
- new canoe launch ramp
- extra parking
- tree planting
- new furniture and updated signage.

When is it happening?
Construction of the mountain bike flow trails will begin in late February, with the canoe launch ramp following in late March.
Each project will take around 2 months to complete, subject to weather.
Improvements to parking, furniture and signs will take place during this time.
Tree planting will take place mid-2026.
Works are expected to be completed in May.
How it might affect you
The reserve will remain open during construction, with some restrictions in the car park. Alternative parking is available at Westerfolds Park Yarra River picnic area car park.
We’ll do our best to minimise disruption while these improvements are underway.
