I gave feedback on an Arts Action Plan. What has changed?

    • After reviewing all of the feedback from across the community, we saw an opportunity to create a long-term vision for how we deliver, partner and advocate for our creative community.
    • The Creative Communities Framework is supported by an action plan which can be updated as we deliver new programs and projects each year.

What support will there be for artists and community arts and cultural groups?

    • Throughout the framework are priorities that focus on supporting local artists and community and cultural groups.
    • Some of this work will involve reimagining what we already do, and some will be a more long-term approach to building ways to grow our ‘creative ecology’.
    • As a start, we will build networking opportunities, exhibition and public art opportunities and partner with community arts and cultural groups to see what is possible.

Why does Manningham Council spend money on arts and culture?

    • Manningham has a long history of creative activity and has been home to significant artists and arts movements including the Heide Museum of Modern Art and Potters Cottage in Warrandyte.
    • Our role in continuing this legacy is to deliver programs that are relevant to our community.
    • Arts and culture also have positive wellbeing, liveability and economic development benefits. Access to arts and culture is part of a range of experiences that make Manningham a great place to live, work and visit.
