Mullum Mullum Project Timeline

The proposed Mullum Mullum Reserve Stadium is a key feature of the Mullum Mullum Reserve Management Plan 2014, which also includes improvements to pedestrian and cycling paths, car parking and landscaping at Mullum Mullum Reserve in Donvale in and around the reserve.

The highly anticipated Mullum Mullum Reserve Stadium will provide a boost for local sporting clubs in Manningham, with five new indoor sports courts.

The stadium will help to address the shortage of indoor court space in Manningham and will cater for a range of sports including basketball, netball, badminton, table tennis and volleyball.

The development also includes a cafe, amenities, function rooms and administration facilities. A new car park, adjacent the stadium, will also be constructed to ensure that the stadium complements the existing facilities in the reserve.

Planning approval for the stadium was received in January 2016, and it is anticipated that construction will commence in September/October this year, with the stadium opening in mid 2018.

During August, we asked you for information about how you use the Reserve and surrounding area to help inform the development of the Mullum Mullum Reserve Management Plan. Analysis was also undertaken on the traffic and car parking at the Reserve and a consultation session was held with the major highball sporting clubs across the municipality about potential use of a highball facility.

While planning is still being undertaken for a highball facility at Mullum Mullum Reserve, this preliminary work has identified that the proposed facility will not include a show court. This decision is critical as it influences the seating for the facility and as a result, the parking requirements for the Reserve.   In the short term, the Plan will propose to accommodate five courts with approximately 500 seats and 250 additional parking spaces.

This outcome will provide five of the 15 court shortfall of highball facilities within the municipality. The facility will be multi-use and as such, will be able to host a range of sports and clubs, sports finals andtournaments, and competitions such as the Big V basketball games.
