Consultation has concluded

Update: Consultation on our draft Domestic Wastewater Management Plan is now closed.

We're reviewing our Domestic Wastewater Management Plan and want to hear your feedback on our draft Domestic Wastewater Management Plan 2019.

The plan identifies risks on public health and the environment and outlines strategies to manage septic systems now and into the future.

The plan will reduce the impacts of domestic wastewater on local creeks and streams by engaging with property owners on septic tank system and maintenance responsibilities. We also advocate on behalf of the community to ensure they have access to sewerage infrastructure (or sewerage solutions) where appropriate.

We've assessed over 4,700 septic systems and followed up on non-compliant systems, responded to complaints and assessed new installations. Yarra Valley Water has provided sewerage services to Warrandyte, Templestowe, Wonga Park and sewerage will soon be available to Donvale residents. Another 2,935 properties have been referred to Yarra Valley Water for inclusion onto their community sewer program. To learn more read our Fast Facts.

We've consulted and included feedback from our key stakeholders Yarra Valley Water, Environmental Protection Authority, Melbourne Water, Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning and Department of Health and Human Service.

Submissions closed

Friday 4 October at 5.00pm.
