Update: Works will get underway to create the new public plaza space at Tunstall Square in mid March.

The works to create this public plaza space are part of a broader plan of streetscape improvements in the west of the Tunstall Square Shopping Centre.

The public plaza will provide a place for the community to meet and socialise and aims to encourage more pedestrian movement throughout Tunstall Square.

The plaza will feature paving, shade trees, public seating and landscape elements, and will provide opportunity for community events and socialising space for centre visitors and staff – see the artist's impression in the photo gallery.

Works are scheduled to start on Wednesday 15 March and it is expected that works will be completed by mid 2017.

The design for the public plaza has been informed by consultation with the local community and traders in September 2016.
