We are inviting people to put in an Expression of Interest (EOI) to join a focus group for the Templestowe Village Streetscape Upgrade. We are looking for a diverse mix of community members including local residents, business owners, workers, community group members and people of different ages, backgrounds and abilities.

The focus group sessions will help inform the development of the draft Templestowe Village Streetscape concept plan, which will then be placed on public exhibition for all members of the community to provide feedback on. The focus group will:

• Look at community feedback, research and background information relating to the Templestowe Village Streetscape Upgrade
• Discuss ideas for improving the Templestowe Village streetscape
• Workshop to identify and prioritise key issues and opportunities for the Templestowe Village streetscape upgrade

We are looking for a diverse mix of community members including local residents, business owners, workers, community group members and people of different ages, backgrounds and abilities.

Selection process

• To ensure the group achieves a balanced representation, the selection will be undertaken by independent consultants, Chatterbox Projects based on the criteria below.
• The final panel numbers will vary but will be no more than 30 participants chosen from across residents, business owners, landowners and community groups (it may be that not everyone who submits an EOI will be selected).
• Successful and unsuccessful people will be notified as soon as possible and no later than Tuesday 10 February.

The focus group sessions will help inform the development of the draft Templestowe Village Streetscape concept plan, which will then be placed on public exhibition for all members of the community to provide feedback on. The focus group will:

You do not need any specialist knowledge to be part of the focus group. You just need to be willing to contribute, agree to our Terms of Reference and Code of Conduct and share your thoughts and ideas.

The community will be kept informed through a range of communication channels:

• Email newsletter: This newsletter provides updates on Manningham Council initiatives, community events and key developments in Templestowe.    
• YourSayManningham: This online platform allows residents to stay informed, share feedback, participate in consultations and focus group project design phases and planning.
• Council website: The Manningham Council website features news articles, project updates, meeting agendas and minutes.
• Social media: Follow our social media channels via Facebook and Instagram for timely updates, announcements and community highlights.
• Local media: We also share information through local news to reach a broader audience.
• Community pop-in sessions: These in-person sessions offer opportunities to hear directly from Manningham Council representatives and ask questions.
• Public notices and signage: Updates may also be shared via signage in affected areas or public noticeboards.

The upgrade may include:

• New footpaths and kerbs 
• Landscaping 
• New seating and street furniture 
• Drainage improvements 
• Pedestrian crossings 
• Improved lighting 
• A review of accessible parking
• Public toilet
• Artwork in public spaces

Works within privately-owned car parks or strata titles and changes to buildings on private land are not included. Any developments on private land are not included.

The scope of this project does not include provision of additional parking spaces as we do do not have any surplus land available.    

We have no plans to purchase any businesses in Templestowe for resale. We understand that rumours have circulated suggesting otherwise, but these claims are unfounded. 

Our focus remains on supporting local businesses through planning, infrastructure and community initiatives - not acquiring or reselling them.
