Project FAQs
What consultation has been undertaken for the Templestowe Route upgrade?
During the design phase, we heard from more than 200 people during two stages of community consultation in 2023 and 2024. The community has their say on proposed project designs through online surveys and drop-in consultation sessions.
We continue to consult with the community as we prepare for the main construction works. Two information sessions were held on 13 and 17 March 2025, and fortnightly trader briefings will commence in May 2025.
What future plans do you have for Templestowe Village?
Several of Council’s strategic documents highlight the need to upgrade Templestowe Village while preserving its unique, leafy character. These include the Liveable City Strategy, Economic Development Strategy, and Vibrant Villages Action Plan. While these strategies include some high-level concepts, they do not provide any indicative plans for the area.
Later this year, we'll ask for your ideas as we begin the early stages of planning for upgrades to the activity centre. This will likely include upgrades to outdoor furniture, landscaping and other improvements to modernise and beautify the area, while maintaining its village character.
We'll share more details on this initial phase of consultation for the Village upgrades in the coming months. As part of the project, community and traders will also contribute to the design of permanent outdoor dining areas on Anderson Street.
How is the project being funded?
The Australian Government invested $5 million from the Urban Congestion Fund to deliver these targeted upgrades as part of the Fitzsimons Lane and Main Road corridor project.
The remaining funds are being provided under our Capital Works Program.
