Late last year, we sought feedback on a proposed upgrade of Tasker Reserve.
As part of our Parks Alive program, before consultation started, we held a workshop with 10 local residents during October to brainstorm ideas for the upgrade.
After developing a concept plan, during November/December we sought feedback from local residents and visitors to Tasker Reserve on a concept plan.
From this consultation, we received 21 survey responses and more than 20 people attended a session on site at Tasker Reserve.
Some of the overall themes of the feedback received included:
- Surrounding residents feel this reserve is like everyone’s backyard, where the playspace, view lines and open space is valued.
- Tasker Reserve is safe and away from roads
- Due to low visibility, suggestions were made to provide a more welcoming and transparent entry at Kilarney Road and Tasker Street
- There was some support for a multipurpose court, however more residents favoured a contemplative seating and garden space
- Requests for challenging equipment such as climbing nets, ropes, slide and swings
- Requests to retain the open grassed area within the reserve.
Feedback that has been incorporated into the concept plan, includes:
- New entry paths from Kilarney Road and Tasker Street into the reserve
- Stepped entry from Kilarney Road
- A new contemplative seating and garden space
- Large challenging climbing net with slide (4.35 metres high)
- Providing additional seats and picnic table
- Retaining open grassed areas to kick a ball
- Additional trees.
