Consultation has concluded

Swanston Reserve has been offering residents and visitors a variety of recreational choices from skateboarding, play equipment and basketball for almost 30 years.

We’re upgrading Swanston Reserve and would like to hear your feedback on the playspace design.

The proposed upgrade includes:

  • Junior play area with slide, shop front and climbing net
  • Senior play area with slide, money bars and climbing nets
  • Swings including a toddler swing and a basket swing
  • Rocks and logs for nature play
  • A central picnic shelter and communal area
  • Rock retaining walls and boulders for climbing and sitting
  • Landscaping including additional tree planting.

We have brought forward plans to introduce junior skate elements alongside the main skate bowl area commencing in 2023/24. Feedback from the community will be sought prior to these works starting. This later stage will also include a new basketball/netball half court.

The low lying area to the south of the main path, which is subject to occasional flooding after heavy rain will be retained as an open lawn area.

These improvements will ensure that the reserve caters for a diverse range of park users, while also maintaining the balance between green space and built play elements.

Review our Playspace Draft Concept Plan and Swanston Reserve Draft Master Plan and use our feedback form to let us know what you think by Monday 25 October 2021.
