A smart city is a city that applies digital technology, data and innovative practices to improve liveability, sustainability, collaboration and economic opportunities.

What is the Liveability Innovation and Technology Committee?
As our vibrant city continues to grow and change, we want to innovate, explore new technologies and cutting-edge systems to support our community and make Manningham a smart city for the future.
We’ve begun this smart evolution by forming a Liveability Innovation and Technology (LIT) Committee, a new advisory panel with representatives from the community, together with Councillors, and Council officers.Members of the committee are passionate about new technologies and innovation can support our community in Manningham.
The committee will oversee the development of our Smart Cities Discussion Paper and together with community feedback will help inform our next steps and considering smart city opportunities practices in Manningham.
Are there any smart city initiatives already happening in Manningham?
Yes there is.
We’ve partnered with the Australian Government to implement new smart technologies at Jackson Court Neighbourhood Centre in Doncaster East under our Smart Cities - Reinventing Neighbourhoods program.
The program will use a range of smart sensors to gather data to better understand the community’s use of the Jackson Court Neighbourhood Centre and to help us improve the community’s experience of the Centre.
