Public Toilet Plan

Public Toilet Plan 2021 is a 10 year plan to ensure a network of safe, accessible, well maintained and sustainable toilet facilities across Manningham.

The Public Toilet Plan implementation involves delivery of 11 new public toilets, refurbishment of existing public toilets and the opening of some existing pavilion toilets for our community. The Public Toilet Plan 2021 was endorsed by Council February 2021 and construction of the new toilets will begin from March 2022 onwards. 

The key actions of the endorsed Plan are:

  • Opening up existing toilets to provide new public toilet facilities
  • Constructing new public toilet facilities in 11 locations
  • Upgrading older style toilets to improve safety and be gender inclusive
  • Conducting accessibility audits and upgrade access paths to public toilet facilities
  • Providing Changing Places high needs facilities at major destinations e.g. Ruffey Lake Park
  • Providing public toilets along trails at regular intervals as site conditions permit
  • Investigating a program of artworks on blank walls of toilet buildings to raise awareness of our toilet facilities, improve aesthetics and activate public spaces

    Sheahans Reserve will have a new public toilet facility installed shortly

    Sheahans Reserve has been selected as the first site under The Public Toilet Plan 2021 for our new modular building design and will include the following features:

    • 1 Accessible cubicle, 1 Ambulant cubicle
    • Baby and child change facilities
    • Powered and natural lighting and ventilation
    • Doors clearly visible to the playspace and car park
    • Robust materials that are easy to clean

    We are pleased to share the concept design (see images), the location will allow wheelchair access from the car park – new accessible parking bays will be added, as well as access to the playspace and BBQ area.
