Who has been consulted in developing the draft Strategy and Action Plan?
Extensive consultation has been undertaken in the development of the Prevention of Violence Against Women Strategy and Action Plan 2013 – 2017. In order to reach a diverse range of stakeholders with different specialities, the following networks and committees were specifically targeted;
The agencies participating in the consultation process is extensive and captures a vast amount of the stakeholders involved in preventing and responding to violence against women within Manningham and the wider Eastern Region. A full list of agencies involved is available upon request by contacting Community Services on 9840 9333.
Additionally consultation was undertaken with all Manningham City Council internal departments identified within the Action Plan.
The Manningham Family Violence Reference Group has acted as an Advisory Committee throughout the development of the Prevention of Voilence Against Women Strategy and Action Plan 2013 – 2017.
What are the key areas I can comment on in the Strategy and Action Plan?
Comments are welcome regarding any part of the Prevention of Violence Against Women Strategy and Action Plan 2013 -2017, Council is specifically seeking comments relating to the Action Plan (Section 4.2) on page 13 of the Strategy.
What happens to my feedback once I submit it to Council?
Manningham City Council has adopted the International Association for Public Participation IAP2 Core values. These values are central to how we at Manningham should approach any community engagement and consultation processes.
It is important to Manningham City Council that decisions are made on the best information available. Your views and experiences help us to build this knowledge.
This draft Strategy and Action Plan have been developed by Council in consultation with a diverse range of stakeholders, and is now open to the public or other stakeholders for additional comment. Your feedback will be taken by officers, along with other views and expertise critical to the Strategy and Action Plan.
The final Strategy and Action Plan will be developed considering all the views shared, as well as key factors including funding, legal criteria, existing commitments and priorities. This information is then presented to Council to determine the final recommendation/s.
Sharing your views and experiences could give Council new ideas or information or a new perspective. So, even if your comments are not word for word in the final Plan, having your say will ensure that we are informed about how you would like to improve your community life. This means that we can better advocate on your behalf, if we need to, or to better consider your needs, now and in the future.
What is Council's approach to preventing violence against women?
Council’s approach to preventing violence against women is informed by VicHealth’s preventing Violence Against Women Framework and employs primary, secondary and tertiary strategies, across targeted populations and settings, with a key focus on primary prevention.
