FAQs
- Increased noise: There will be electric tools and banging at times during construction. We’ll aim to schedule the noisier demolition works after hours to minimise any impact on visitors and services.
- Increased foot traffic and lift use: Workers will be moving through the building, sometimes carrying materials.
- Parking changes: The loading dock will be used at times, usually outside of business hours. Some car parks under MC Square may be required for material storage. Workers will park in Manningham Council staff parking areas, not MC Square visitor parking.
- Level 2 toilet closure: The main toilets on Level 2 will be closed for the works. Alternative toilets:
- accessible toilets on Level 1
- a single all gender toilet at the end of the Level 2 hallway, past the pottery studio
- within service areas (for use by services or hirers only).
- Level 2 kitchen closure: The kitchen will be closed and renovated to create 2 smaller kitchens with new appliances: one for the new UpSpace facility and one for other tenants.
When will the works happen?
Works are scheduled to begin on 12 January 2025 and will take around 5 months to complete.
Most works will happen between 7:00am and 5:00pm on weekdays.
What impacts can I expect at MC Square during the works?
We’re taking steps to minimise disruption to visitors of MC Square, but some impacts will be unavoidable.
During these times, you may notice:
We’ll have signage in place to guide you safely around any areas closed for renovation.
Where can we find MY Hub youth services during the works?
From Saturday 6 December until the works are complete, the Manningham Youth Services team will be relocated to the Manningham Civic Centre, situated in the rooms to the right of the entryway.
Programs and activities, including Drop In, will take place in the temporary MY Hub at Suite 9 Level 2, in the space that was previously used by Access Health.
Signs will be placed at MC Square and the Civic Centre to guide visitors.
