Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Manningham Youth Summit (MY Summit)?
Our first My Summit has been designed to provide young people the opportunity to have a meaningful say on issues that affect their lives.
The Summit is being held on 27 May and will bring together young people across Manningham to consider 4 key issues - mental health, climate change, equality and political participation.
Delegates will make recommendations to Council, which will support how we progress our Council Plan priority areas from a youth perspective.
How can I attend the Youth Summit?
Attendance to the MY Summit is by invitation only. Invitations were sent to Manningham secondary colleges seeking students to be involved.
However, all young people can help shape the recommendations of the Youth Summit delegates by completing our Manningham Youth Survey.
How were the 4 key topics chosen?
The topics - mental health, climate change, equality and political participation - have been selected by our MY Summit Team (MYST), a group of local young people who are passionate about empowering others to help shape our community.
Who can provide feedback?
The survey is designed to reach young people living, working, studying or regularly spending time in Manningham, aged 12 - 25 years.
It aims to capture a diverse range of voices, including young people from different cultural backgrounds, abilities, genders, sexual identities and life experiences.
How will my feedback make a difference?
The survey results will be used to directly inform the Youth Summit by shaping its themes, discussion topics and activities.
This ensures the Youth Summit reflects real youth voices, responds to current needs and supports meaningful youth engagement.
The findings may also help guide future youth programs, services and advocacy efforts within Manningham, ensuring decision-making is informed by young people themselves.
