Consultation has concluded

Approval of the Development Plan

Following community consultation, Council approved the Development Plan with changes at its meeting on 25 October 2022.

The changes included:

  • Removing any reference to the proposed illumination of the pylon sign on Wetherby Road;
    • Reducing the size of the sign to a maximum 2.5m in height;
  • Ensuring that any proposed signage complies with planning scheme requirements;
  • Restricting the hours of operation of the food truck and dining area to between 9am to 3pm and condition that the facility will not contain a stove, oven or exhaust fan; and
  • Showing where the dining space will be located on the site plan at Appendix C of the Development Plan.

The next step in the process is for Kevin Heinze Grow to apply for a planning permit to construct the all-abilities toilet on the site. If the planning permit is generally in accordance with the approved Development Plan, no further advertising of the application is required.

Background

Council has received a Development Plan in relation to future plans for the Kevin Heinze Grow community gardens site, located at 39-41 Wetherby Road, Doncaster.

The proposed works include:

  • Construction of an accessible adult toilet and change facility
  • Point of sales upgrade to the nursery area including a catering van/food truck
  • Externally illuminated signage at the Wetherby Road frontage
  • Landscaping along Wetherby Road frontage.

Preparation of a Development Plan is a requirement under the Manningham Planning Scheme (DPO1). The DPO1 control requires a Development Plan to be prepared to coordinate proposed use or development on the site before a permit under the zone can be granted.
