Thank you to everyone who provided feedback on the concept plan for Jocelyn Reserve in Doncaster East.

We're upgrading Jocelyn Reserve and have finalised the concept plan.

Jocelyn Reserve is a well-loved park for its open space, pedestrian links and play. This reserve serves as an important place for the local community which is growing and changing.

The reserve has been chosen as part of the Parks Alive program where you can make your park special and unique using your skills and ideas to run an event, activity or creative project.

Through our Parks Alive initiative, we have had a high interest in Jocelyn Reserve. We are interested to learn what makes this place great, and how can we bring more people to this reserve to enjoy it.

The focus of this upgrade will be on landscaping and planting improvements to the entrance of the reserve to help create a friendly, more welcoming space for the local community to enjoy.

Key features include:

  • New asphalt path from the southern end of Denhert Street
  • Improvements to existing asphalt path
  • New garden beds and a line of deciduous trees along existing path
  • New drinking fountain
  • New park seats and picnic table near playground
  • Refurbish existing play unit and swing
  • New spinner play equipment
  • Nature play elements such as landscaped mudstone rocks and logs
  • Removal of all agapanthus and pine log barriers

Construction is underway and will take about 5 weeks to complete.

Late last year, we sought feedback from local residents and visitors to Jocelyn Reserve to help inform a concept plan for a reserve upgrade.

    This included:

    • Online community consultation via Your Say Manningham which included a 400m radius letter drop to neighboring residents

    • Onsite consultation held in November 2018 to discuss the proposed plan

Some of the overall themes of the feedback received included:

    1. The park is well utilised with many people walking through to access primary school, bus stops and the local shops, as well as for play or sitting in.

    2. Proximity and open space is valued by local residents

    3. There was a historical connection with residents living in the area for a long time with memories and/or contributions to the park

    4. Request for new path on the southern side of Denhert Street to link through to shops and bus stops

    5. Improvements to entrance of Jocelyn Court, including removal of the Agapanthus

    6. Request for lighting in park for safety when walking through at night

    7. Request to upgrade play equipment

    8. Request for additional path furniture including picnic table and seats near playground and drinking fountain

    9. Request for bicycle/scooter track around park

Feedback that has been incorporated into the concept plan.
