Consultation has concluded

UPDATE: The new Invigorate Publication is here!

The first issue of Invigorate, Manningham’s new seasonal health and lifestyle magazine, is now available and includes all the latest news on sport, recreation, health and wellbeing.

Including a mix of new initiatives, programs, events, activities and volunteer stories from Council and the community, the magazine is a combination of the previous Rec Wrap and Live Well Manningham newsletters. The magazine has been developed with the community’s feedback, on what they would like to see as part of Invigorate, in mind.

The feedback received showed that respondents wanted to see information on new initiatives (76 per cent), profiles of local organisations and clubs (71 per cent), grant and funding opportunities (59 per cent), updates on local volunteers (57 per cent) and inclusive programs for our diverse community (56 per cent). Feedback also showed that 82 per cent of respondents would like to see a regular directory of services, clubs and activities, which is planned for the Autumn 2016 issue.

Hard copies of Invigorate are available at the Manningham Civic Centre and in libraries and neighbourhood houses across Manningham.

The journey so far!

About the Rec Wrap Publication:

The Rec Wrap came about as an action from Council’s Active For Life Recreation Strategy with the first edition published in 2010. The main aim has been to provide information and inspiration through our sport and recreation clubs and organisations to encourage and celebrate our active community. The Rec Wrap, published quarterly, has always encouraged input for articles from the community to retain a local feel and a Manningham focus.

About the LiveWell e-newsletter:

The Live Well e-newsletter has been in operation for 18 months and is an initiative of Manningham’s Healthy City Plan. It was identified through research and community consultation that there was a need to improve access to services and programs and to keep the community better informed on initiatives supporting health and wellbeing. The publication was also aimed to provide a platform for key stakeholders and community organisations to showcase new initiatives and programs and demonstrate best practice. The Live Well e-newsletter is themed on the priorities of the Healthy City Plan: Mental Wellbeing; Healthy Living; Safety and Healthy City and was produced quarterly.

Why are the two publications merging?

After extensive consultation, it was identified that there was significant overlap and duplication across the two publications including similar structure and content. Both publications showcased and promoted many of the organisations and clubs that supported community health and wellbeing and their programs and provided an avenue for key stakeholders to share information. As such, it was decided to combine the resources and explore the development of one publication that meets community need and still informs the community of opportunities for them to participate in activities that support their wellbeing.

What’s Next?

We are giving our community members the opportunity to provide input into the new publication, by completing the Invigorate - building a healthier Manningham survey.

By completing the survey, respondents can also enter a draw to win a Gold Class Cinema double pass. Please ensure you have read the competition Terms and Conditions. The survey closes 9 October 2015.

Your feedback will assist us in ensuring that the new publication will be valuable to residents, services and clubs in Manningham. The first edition is scheduled for December 2015.
