Consultation has concluded

Thank you to everyone who provided feedback on the concept plan for Fernlea Reserve.

We're upgrading Fernlea Reserve in Doncaster East and have finalised the concept plan.

The reserve was chosen as part of the Parks Alive program where you can make your park special and unique using your skills and ideas to run an event, activity or creative project.

Through our new Parks Alive initiative, we’ve heard we need to improve the entrance into Fernlea Reserve so it is more welcoming and inviting.

Improvements to the reserve will focus mainly on the entrance from the road to the Reserve to help improve access into the play space and provide better sightlines into the reserve.

The upgrade will be completed in two stages:

Stage 1 - Playspace upgrade, works to start in July

Key features include:

  • new junior play unit with slide, shop and cubby
  • new challenging climbing unit
  • new trees and shrub planting.

Stage 2 - New entry path and landscape, works to start in September

Key features include:

  • earthworks to reduce height of embankment and improve views into reserve
  • new steps linking play area and existing entry driveway
  • new lounge and park seats.

      • Through our new Parks Alive initiative, we’ve heard this reserve is valued for its tranquil quiet space with views, open grassed area and proximity to local residents (access from backyard)
      • More planting
      • More challenging equipment
      • Improve access into the Reserve as well as more seating options

Feedback that has been incorporated into the concept plan, includes:

      • Creating a more welcoming entry with through better landscaping and new steps
      • New challenging climbing unit
