What is Arts and Culture in Manningham?
Arts and Culture in Manningham refers to all activities that support residents experiencing, developing and sharing:
These activities reflect the diversity and identity of our community, and provides a means for residents to feel more connected and engaged with their community; “…the glue that holds communities together” (UNESCO).
How was the Draft Cultural Strategy (2013 – 2017) developed?
The Arts and Cultural Strategy (2009-2013) was reviewed in 2013.
Significant community consultation took place to ensure that the Draft Cultural Strategy (2013-2017) was relevant, achievable and supported local cultural partnerships.
This consultation included discussions with Council service units, key external stakeholders, the arts and cultural industry and the wider Manningham community. This work also helped to build the priorities.
The following consultation tools were used to gather this vital feedback:
a) A Cultural Strategy Working Group
b) Key Stakeholder Workshops
c) What Matters Manningham - on-line Community Survey
d) A Public Exhibition Phase (current 6 week period)

What are the themes for the new Strategy?
Initial consultation with key stakeholders has provided a series of broad ‘themes” for the new strategy which will provide a basic framework for action areas.
Each of these themes will aim to address the needs and interests of our diverse community, and are as follows:
What Happens Next?
All feedback presented in writing will be considered by Council for adoption within the endorsed Cultural Strategy (2013-2017) where feasible.
The endorsed Cultural Strategy (2013-2014) will be posted on the Manningham City Council Website at www.manningham.vic.gov.au during September 2103.
