Upcoming construction works – Burgundy Reserve upgrade phase 2 construction

We’re beginning the phase 2 constrction works for the Burgundy Reserve upgrade on Friday 23 January 2026. This phase of construction will include the installation of a new playground, shelter, picnic area, toilet, fence, lights and planting.

How long will works take?

Construction will begin on Friday 23 January 2026 and will take around 4 months to complete. We expect the project to be finalised in May 2026, subject to weather and conditions.

Will the reserve be closed during construction?

During the works Burgundy Reserve will be partially closed and workers will be on site from 7.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday. The closest alternate playgrounds are at Sommerville Reserve, 300 metres away at Somerville Street in Doncaster, and Brendan Reserve, 200 metres away at Brendan Avenue in Doncaster.

Why is this happening?

The last major upgrade at Burgundy Reserve was over 20 years ago and the current play equipment has reached the end of its useful life. This project presents a valuable opportunity to refresh the playspace and surrounding reserve. The upgrade is part of our Parks Improvement Program, will be delivered under our capital works program is and partly funded by the DEECA New and Improved Dog Parks Program.
