What's proposed for the Swanston Reserve Skate Facility (Bulleen Skate Bowl)?
The existing skate bowl at Swanston Reserve is old and worn. So, we're refurbishing it so it can continue being used by skateboarders, scooters, and bike riders.
We're also adding junior skate elements and relocating the basketball half-court.
These were proposals made as part of the Swanston Reserve Landscape Masterplan 2021.
The Capital Works Budget 2023-24 has allocated $500,000 for the upgrade.
How will you plan and design the upgrade?
We're working with a specialist skate park design company, Convic, who are leading the community consultation and design for the upgrade.
They've drafted an initial concept design. By completing our feedback form, you can share your feedback on this design until Friday, 10 March.
Convic will prepare the final design by April 2023 and the construction tender specifications by May 2023.
Are any other improvements planned for the reserve?
The upgrade will also:
Will there be lighting at the skate facility?
There'll be no direct lighting over the skate facility or basketball court area.
Will there be a BBQ?
Because of the high cost to install and maintain a BBQ, we won't be installing a BBQ at Swanston Reserve. There is a BBQ nearby at Sheahans Reserve.
