Consultation has concluded

UPDATE: Consultation has now closed.

To ensure our community continues to have sufficient public open space now and into the future, Council is proposing to update the open space contribution rates for subdivisions of three or more lots.

Under the Subdivision Act 1988, any developer seeking to subdivide land into three or more lots is required to provide an open space contribution to Council. This is to compensate for the increased demand for open space caused by the subdivision. The contribution is assessed as a percentage of the property’s site value and can be provided in the form of land, money or a combination of both.

The proposal is known as Amendment C123 to the Manningham Planning Scheme and we are now seeking your feedback.

Amendment C123 proposes to introduce:

  • An 8% open space contribution for high growth areas where there is a greater need for public open space.
  • A 5% open space contribution in the remainder of the municipality, where less change is forecast.

For more information about Amendment C123 see the FAQs on this page.
