We’re creating safer, more accessible ways for our community to stay active and get around.
Thank you to everyone who provided feedback on the draft Active Transport Strategy during the month of May. Your feedback is now being reviewed and will inform the final version of the Active Transport Strategy, which will be considered at a Council meeting later this year.
Our draft Active Transport Strategy outlines how we plan to improve paths, trails and infrastructure in Manningham. It will guide the next 10 years of active transport infrastructure, programs and advocacy – supporting a healthier, more connected and sustainable community.
The draft strategy covers active transport options like walking, cycling, scooters, skateboards and e‑mobility, with a focus on improving:
cycling infrastructure
footpaths and walking trails
links to key destinations and public transport
end‑of‑trip facilities
bicycle facilities on key routes.
Why are you developing a new strategy?
This strategy replaces our previous walking and cycling strategies and sits alongside (but separate from) our Footpath Policy.
The new strategy will reflect current community needs, best practice and changing transport priorities.

The LGGP provides funding to projects that help prevent road trauma and facilitate adoption of the ‘Safe System’ approach to road safety: safe roads, safe vehicles, safe speeds and safe people.
This funding will be used in combination with council allocated funds to deliver a broader and carefully considered Active Transport Strategy to encourage Manningham residents to walk and cycle more frequently.
